  5.                 NetHack 3.1 -- General information
  6.  
  7. NetHack 3.1 is a new generation of the dungeon exploration game NetHack.
  8. It is a distant descendent of Hack, and a direct descendent of NetHack 3.0.
  9. It is the product of two years of very intensive effort by the NetHack
  10. Development Team and its porting sub-teams.  Many parts of 3.0 were
  11. rewritten for NetHack 3.1, and many new features were added.

  13. We dedicate the game to the many players of 3.0, with special note of those
  14. who communicated with us and contributed their ideas to the development of
  15. this new version.

  17. (These are the official binaries for Amiga NetHack 3.1.3 - the third
  18. patchlevel of NetHack 3.1.  This file is the readme for NH31P3-2.lzh,
  19. part two of the two parts that make up the distribution.  The other
  20. part is called NH31P3-1.lzh.)

  22.                 Amiga NetHack 3.1.3 -- Transferring
  23. Be sure to retrieve the two .lzh files in BINARY mode or they will
  24. not work.  To set binary mode in most versions of ftp type:
  25.   set binary

  28.                 Amiga NetHack 3.1.3 -- Unpacking
  29.  
  30. The Amiga NetHack binary distribution comes in two .lzh files.  Extract
  31. the installation instructions from the first archive (probably called
  32. NH31P3-1.lzh) with the following command:
  33.   lz x NH31P3-1.lzh NetHack/ReadMe
  34. and follow the directions.  Note that the ReadMe file will be in a NetHack
  35. subdirectory.

  37. We have been informed that the default stack is not big enough to unpack
  38. the archives with some archivers - if you have trouble unpacking the
  39. archives try increasing your stack to 40000.
